Jean-Paul Laurens (Fourquevaux, 1838 — Paris, 1921), was a French academic painter.

He was the pupil of Léon Cogniet and Alexandre Bida. As an anti-religious and republican person, he is known for his historical & religious themes through which he struggled against kings and religious tyranny. One of his right-known paintings depicts a mediæval "Cadaver Synod".
